Lagan was set up in 1955 by James Mackie & Sons, Belfast, Northern Ireland, for manufacturing Jute Machineries as a subsidiary. It was run under the Government of India from 1978 to 2000, when the controlling stake in the Company was disinvested.
The Company has stood out ahead of competition through its unwavering stand on quality and service support. These same ideals are allowing it to make rapid strides in new industries and verticals.
Lagan is professionally and independently run with representation on the Board of Directors of International Textile machinery consultants, Jute Industry stalwarts. Lagan has received Export Promotion Award from Textile Machinery Manufacturers Of India continuously for last four years(2010-11 to 2013-14) Lagan has provided high-quality Jute Machines globally. Over time, Lagan has maintained high standards of manufacturing, modernized its infrastructure, introduced new products and constantly innovated in its field. Its satisfied clients include Jute Mills all over the world from India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Vietnam, Ethiopia and many other countries. Lagan machines have been running in the Industry for over 60 years – a testimony to their durability, solid construction and metallurgy.
